ProgrammingI am a programmer,
Having learned multiple programming languages, i plan on making this into a career. as a Video Game Developer, ideally. But i would enjoy other programming jobs. I began programming my sophomore year of High school. A friend of mine had ambitions to start his own video game company. I decided to help him as much as I could, by offering my services as a sound designer and musician. I was curious as to how people programmed video games, so I looked into an interesting program called Game Maker. It was a very "Noob Friendly" game making program. Using Drag and Drop methods to let people make games in the form of Windows Applications (.exe files). I was hooked, I loved being able to create something out of small building blocks. I decided to abandon the Drag and Drop system, and learn GML (Game Maker Language). GML is a programming language for the advanced programmers who use Game Maker, and is very similar to Pascal Delphi. after years of practice, and experimentation, i was now a skilled and experienced programmer. Using Game Maker to not just make games, but to make all sorts of computer programs. Some programs i use on a daily basis, some were made specifically for use by particular organizations, and some were games :P. Then in the summer of 2011, a friend of mine who was a professional web developer, managed to get me a copy of Adobe Flash Professional. I was skilled in GML, and wanted to expand my abilities. So that i could make Flash games and iPod apps, instead of just Windows Applications. And now the one question that you always have to answer when talking about a profession of any kind "Why did you want to be a...." Well at first I had no idea I would love programming as much as I do. as for why? that's simple. programming allows me to do things i cant possibly do anywhere else. I have an IQ of 135 (last time i checked), and programming allows me to use my logic and brain power to a great potential. It challenges me in the best way possible. So it appeals to me logically. But that isn't the only reason. I am a very disorganized person. So I making something that goes EXACTLY how I want it to, without fail. I have made multiple programs to better my daily life, in which I use all the time. (Like my Shutdown Timer, or my File Sorter) THAT, is why I am a programmer. |
